Year 6 Tie-Dying Begins

The classrooms look like a bomb has hit them but the tie dye looks fantastic. Work started today, in earnest, creating our t-shirts from our designs. Here is some of the work in progress.

Our T-Shirt Designs - Ronnie, Ashaurn & Jake

In class we have been studying operation smile we have planned our t-shirt design. We tested tie dye, painting fabrics and sewing. We have finally designed our t-shirts. We used tie dye, some of us used paint and we are very excited to send our t-shirts to India. We had a great and a fun time designing these t-shirts and creating them. We cut up the back and Mrs Dean and Miss Jensen helped us.

T-Shirt Design - Sadia & Durre

Hello me and my class is helping Blue Peter with operation smile. It is very exciting as our teachers are making all the lessons enjoyable. It is an exciting project. We find it very sad when we see people with cleft pallets. It actually made us cry a bit when we watched the video of a girl with a cleft pallet! Our favourite part so far is all of it,because so far we are having so much fun and the best bit was when we got to do some Tye-dye!The worst was when we had to watch the video with the people with a cleft pallet.

So exciting!

How exciting is this! We're getting closer and closer to creating our gowns. We've planned, tested materials and designed what we want our gowns to become. We've also been learning all about cleft lips and cleft palate. I think the whole class felt sad when we watched the video with Kohinoor's story - even though it ended so well.
My favorite part so far: the tie dying! We may have only been using paper towel - but the results sure looked good. I can't wait to read some student blogs about what they've enjoyed with this project so far.
So watch out in this space for student posts and some pics of us creating these awesome designs.

Welcome

Welcome to our new blog. This is the place that we will be sharing our progress and our work as we contribute to the Blue Peter Send a Smile appeal. For more information on the appeal, click on the links in the right hand side bar.

Thank you very much to all the parents who have sent in plain, adult-sized T-shirts for the children to design as surgical gowns. We appreciate your support.

Enjoy the project everyone.
